Committed to Excellence

May 07, 2018
Twenty-five years ago, Telly and Leeza Amarant fell in love with a quaint two-bedroom colonial overlooking Newport’s Easton Beach and Easton Pond. Now, over two decades later, they’ve transformed it into a breathtaking 16 room boutique hotel complete with an on-site café.

Patiently Waiting

When Telly and Leeza saw what is now The Sea Breeze Inn, it was a tired little cottage in need of repair. They’d spent years traveling around the world and envisioned how they could take the home and transform it into a B&B style hotel that treated guests like family. The couple began saving up for the purchase, and after two-years were able to realize their dream of ownership. After an initial remodel created an eight-room hotel including an ice cream shop, they opened their doors to Newport tourists in 1995.

“From the start, we wanted to give our customers a ‘home away from home’ feel,” Leeza says when asked what has made the Inn a prime location to stay on Aquidneck Island. “It doesn’t matter if you’re here for two days or four, if you’ve stayed with us before or not, we want to know your names and treat you like family.”

Ready for a Refresh

Over the years, the Amarants hosted tourists from around the world, and in 2015, they decided it was time for a refresh. Instead of just doing an upgrade to the existing space, they chose a renovation that would allow them to expand the Inn into their dream business. The redesign included 16 professionally designed rooms and suites, along with a full-service café.  When it came to financing for the project, Telly and Leeza turned to Savings Institute Bank & Trust’s Cristina Feden.

When asked why they selected the Bank, Telly explained, “Savings Institute is committed to the success of our business as much as we are. Cristina supported us every step of the way during the loan process and made sure all the details came together when we needed it most.”

Committed to Excellence

When you walk into The Sea Breeze Inn, it’s apparent they’re committed to excellence. You’re greeted by friendly faces who are ready to get to know you, and the décor is just as beautiful as the scenery of the Rhode Island shoreline that surrounds you. Not only that, you’re immediately put at ease by Leeza’s warm laughter and the delicious scents coming from the café where she or a member of the staff are cooking up traditional lunch and breakfast options, along with a host of authentic Greek dishes and desserts.

Leeza says the secret to their success is simple. “Wake up early and work hard. The hospitality industry is a 24/7 commitment, and you always have to be available for your guests. You can’t just open up. You need to be there for them and provide them with a place where they’re comfortable and want to come back again and again.”
