Savings Institute Bank & Trust Branch Manager Named Debate Judge

Norwich CT (February 17, 2015) – Savings Institute Bank & Trust’s Assistant Vice President, and Norwich Branch Manager, Barry Shead has been named as a judge for the 2nd Annual Dr. Grace Sawyer Jones Debate for the second year in a row. In addition to Barry’s involvement, the bank is proud to be a major sponsor of the event. The event will include a semi-final round for Novice and Advance, along with a championship round in a Parliamentary style debate.

“I’m proud to have been selected this year to judge the championship round of this unique event. It’s a pleasure to listen to the skills of these young people and encourage future involvement in the politics that have helped to shape our nation,” remarked Barry Shead, Assistant Vice President and Norwich Branch Manager.

The debate will take place on Friday, February 19 at Three Rivers Community College and will feature teams from New London High School, Norwich Free Academy, Plainfield High School and Three Rivers Middle College Magnet High School. The event is organized by Sankofa Education and Leadership, Inc, a non-profit committed to preparing, recognizing and rewarding marginalized and underserved youth in the Greater Norwich Area.
