Willimantic, CT - Throughout 2015 Savings Institute Bank & Trust worked to support local community initiatives and non-profits. This included the collection of more than 200 pounds of food, over 150 holiday gifts, and 100 coats. In addition, employees donated approximately $5,000 for Dress Down for a Cause days that benefited local and national non-profits such as the Rhode Island and Connecticut Food Banks, American Heart Association and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Employees also continued the 15 year strong 100% employee sponsored Caring & Giving Program which donates to local community non-profits throughout the year. The program donated more than $10,000 to organizations such as the Jonnycake Center, Tri-County ARC, Lucy’s Hearth and Access Agency. Along with these contributions, the bank regularly sponsors events for local businesses and non-profits through direct sponsorship requests that totaled over $100,000 in 2015. The SI Financial Group Foundation, established in 2005 by SI Financial Group, Inc., the parent company of the bank, awarded over $38,000 in grants to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Visiting Nurse Services and Day Kimball Hospital as well.
Community involvement does not end at monetary contributions. In 2015, Savings Institute Bank & Trust employees volunteered over 4,700 hours of their time to more than 100 organizations throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island, including local fire houses, libraries and more.
