Savings Institute Helps WAIM Keep People Warm

Feb 12, 2013

Willimantic, CT (Feb 12, 2013) – Savings Institute Bank & Trust recently announced a grant to WAIM, the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry, to assist them with their energy assistance program.

“Now is the season for this kind of grant. It’s been cold!” observed Mark Light, Savings Institute Commercial Lender, based at the bank’s Willimantic office. “It’s rewarding to know this is going to make a real difference in a number of people’s lives.”

The grant was for $3000 and was presented by Mr. Light to Victoria Nimirowski, WAIM’s Executive Director.

WAIM started in 1984 in the basement of a local church with the original intention of redistributing clothing to neighbors in need.  Since then, it’s grown to an organization that, along with clothing, provides furniture, appliances, linens, career clothing and emergency financial assistance to over 8,000 people each year from Windham and twelve surrounding towns.

Savings Institute Bank & Trust Company is headquartered in Willimantic, Connecticut with twenty branches in eastern Connecticut. The Bank is a full service community-oriented financial institution dedicated to serving the financial service needs of consumers and businesses within its market area.
